Douglas M. Evans� practice includes commercial
litigation and trials in both state and federal
courts, with an emphasis on real estate and business disputes, contracts,
bankruptcy, commercial collections, foreclosure, mechanics liens, and
appeals. Doug also concentrates in representing companies in
connection with structured settlement transfers and lottery assignment
transactions. Doug has also served as a liquidating trustee in
connection with a large Chapter 11 bankruptcy case.
Doug regularly represents clients in the State of Connecticut and the
Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and is admitted to the United States District
Courts for the District of Connecticut and the District of Massachusetts and
the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. He is a
member of the Connecticut Bar Association, and serves on the executive
committee of the Commercial Law and Bankruptcy Section.
Doug graduated from Connecticut College, New London, Connecticut,
with a Bachelor of Arts in 1985, and graduated from Suffolk University Law
School, Boston, Massachusetts, cum laude, in 1989. In law school, he
was an editor of the Suffolk University Transnational Law Journal.
Doug received his training and experience at Schatz & Schatz, Ribicoff &
Kotkin, in Hartford, where he practiced for six years in the litigation
department.
Doug
is an active member of the Avon, Connecticut, Town Committee, and is an
elected member of the Avon Town Council. A resident of Avon since
1993, Doug is married with three children.
