In over 20 years of practice, Steven J. Meis has represented clients over a
broad spectrum of
commercial real estate
matters, including leasing, acquisitions and development, finance, environmental
law, and condominium law, as well as in general corporate and business law. His
experience in commercial real estate covers a wide geographic span, from state
and regional matters to numerous loan transactions across the country. His work
also covers a wide financial span, ranging from relatively small matters to
large, sophisticated financings.
Steve served as in-house real estate counsel at a major
banking institution, where he oversaw a workout loan portfolio of several
hundred loans. In that capacity, he developed and implemented in-house tracking
systems, and developed and implemented legal documentation for restructurings.
He also developed a strong business perspective which has been a great asset in
representing clients effectively while in private practice.
Steve received his undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina,
graduating in 1983, and his J.D. from the University of Virginia Law School,
graduating in 1986. He is admitted to practice in the State of
Connecticut
and the United States District Court.
Steve holds a black belt in karate and has been an instructor in martial
arts. He lives in West Hartford,
Connecticut, with his wife and
son.
